Number Patterns

Yesterday, we had a number of Wizard of Oz rehearsals at the dome and we had another rehearsal today. Yesterday, we managed to squeeze in time for novel study work. We discussed Chapter 3 as a class. Students were assigned to read Chapter 4 and to complete the response pages (p. 5 & 6). This work is due on Monday.

We did not continue with novel study work today because so many students were away at the track meet. Instead students that had not completed this weeks’ novel study work, OWAs, and DRAs had time to complete this work. We also continued working on math work that was begun on Monday with Ms. Joseph. Students were assigned all questions on p. 370 & 371 of the Math Makes Sense textbook. We managed to take up questions 3, 4, 5, & 6 today. Students need further practice at using strategies to find the given term of a pattern, such as the 20th or 40th term. We used a few strategies, such as comparing the pattern to multiples if the same number was repeatedly added to the pattern. We used exponents when each term was multiplied to produce the next number or if the adding number increased each time. This work is due on Monday.

Students are reminded to work on their UOI project. This is due on Wednesday, May 15th.
Look out for a letter about Apraxia Awareness Day coming home today.
