The Ambassador's Tea Party

Our day started with an awards assembly. Congratulations to Jayden for receiving the Caring Award in our class.

Once in class we had our Ambassador’s Tea Party for Developing Countries. Students mingled with other ambassadors, making connections based on physical, economic, political, and social features. They enjoyed the refreshments that everyone contributed to this event. Once the tea party was over, students reflected on the event, generating lists of pros, cons, and interesting facts learned through preparing the brochure about their developing country and listening to what other students shared about their learning. Students also completed their self-assessment for this task and submitted their research, planning, and brochures for marking. Thank you Grade 6s for the great participation in this event.

Here is the class map with all pinned countries for students to refer to.

Later in the day, we finally managed to view the remaining ‘Welcome to _____, Canada’ videos.

Students will be writing the UOI test on Tuesday, March 5th. They should be reviewing all work covered so far in this unit, including map work. They also received a review sheet that lists all knowledge that is required for the test.

Students had gym and math class today. In math, students completed the review for the unit test. They are reminded to explain how to use transformations to describe each tiling. They need to explain each shape in the tiling. Students need to review congruent figures and sketching triangles. While describing shapes they need to specify all features of the sides and angles. For homework should study and prepare for the test which is on Monday, March 4th, 2019.

Spirit week takes place all next week. Monday is PJ Day. Students not participating should wear their school uniform.
