First Peoples Research

As usual, our day began with our explorers’ inquiry unit. Today students received their first project package that will guide them in exploring our first line of inquiry - First Peoples and their interaction with the environment – through the lens of causation. As a class we reviewed the expectations of the project, including the rubric which will be used to assess student work. Students have been allocated 2 days to do the research and complete their graphic organiser. They will need devices all week. They also had access to informational texts in the classroom. Many students were very productive during this time completing more than half the research. Well done.

We discussed Chapters 9 & 10 of Tuck Everlasting during today’s novel study time. Students have been assigned the following reading: Chapters 11 & 12. They need to complete discussion pages 37 - 38 in the study guide. This work is due tomorrow. Any incomplete novel study work needs to be completed as homework.

Grade 6s had gym, French, and math class today. In math students continued calculating the surface area of rectangular prisms. The also worked on finding the volume of rectangular prisms. For homework, they should complete Q. 8c & 10 on p. 100, and Q. 1.b), 1c), 2.a), 2b), 2c) on p. 102 as well as the worksheet.

Christmas concert costumes are to be worn tomorrow:

North Pole team: black pants, green top/sweater, reindeer antlers

South Pole team: black pants, red top/sweater, Santa hat
