Connections between UOI & Novel Study

 

We continued working on our Probability math unit today. Students learned how to use tree diagrams to show all possible outcomes and to find the probability of a particular outcome. Students were assigned practice work on p. 160 – 163 of the MMS 6 workbook. Those who did not complete the practice work in class are asked to do this for homework. The probability unit test will be written on Tuesday, June 12^th or Wednesday, June 13^th. Patterning and Algebra unit tests are coming home today. Please take time to review these with your child, sign them, and return them to school tomorrow.

We finished up discussing how to write a report in the format of a television interview. Each student had conference time where we discussed their strengths and areas for improvement. Students will be writing their final report tomorrow.

During our inquiry time, we continued reading and discussing risky scenarios, how these relate to the Real World Safety Pledge and what can be done to minimize the risks.  Students then wrote a report on the risks that some characters in The Bridge to Terabithia faced, the consequences of not following the pledge, and how they could have reduced the risks.

Grade 6s then worked on their Digital Footprint summative task. Students will need devices all week as they continue work on their summative task. The last day for groups to present to me is Thursday, June 7^th. Students that are going to Thursday’s track meet will need to present their projects tomorrow. Students may then present to their chosen class from Friday, June 8 – Tuesday, June 12^th.

Grade 6s attended French and gym class today.
