Practicing Presentations

We began our day with our inquiry into flight. Students continued exploring our last line of inquiry, namely “Societal and environmental impacts of flying devices that make use of the properties of air” through the lens of causation. Today’s goal was to get caught up if the research component was incomplete, complete the presentation piece, and practice the presentation. Presentations will take place tomorrow and need to be 2-3 minutes in duration. Devices are needed for tomorrow’s class.

Students who have not completed their Polar Expressions short story project stayed in during first recess to work on this.

We had 20 minutes of catch-up time later in the day. This was used for:

1.      Polar Expressions writing. Students have been working on writing an original short story to enter in the contest. Their story is being peer edited before a good copy is written.

2.      Working on their art/science & technology kite projects

Students who have completed the above list met with me to conference about their OWA on fable and legend writing. Together we read their original writing, and generated a list of their strengths and areas for improvement. Students reviewed the class-generated list of success criteria for a successful fable or legend. These students then began working on writing a new and improved legend or fable.

Students who have not completed their science fair project stayed in during gym to get caught up on this project.

This is a pattern of work we will do this week.

Grade 6s attended gym, French and math today.

Curling trip permission and waiver forms are now past due.

After-care payments are due tomorrow.
