More about Bernoulli

We began our day with our inquiry into flight. We reviewed all our learning regarding Daniel Bernoulli from yesterday. Today’s learning goal was for students to describe how Bernoulli’s Principle produces lift in an airfoil. Students were provided with the criteria they need to hit in order to do this successfully. I modeled how to do this twice on the board, then students had turns teaching and listening to each other in a carousel activity. They gave and received feedback on how successfully the criteria were addressed. On the final round, students received written feedback. They are coming home with this today. Many feel they are ready to write the test on Monday. More practice is always recommended. Students have a received a sheet where they can practice this description in written form.

Remaining class time was used to work on science fair. Students could go out to first recess if they had completed their post-construction sketch. About ¾ of the class have not reached this stage yet.

We began working on our Polar Expressions short story submission. We discussed the criteria for the short story. Students visited the Polar Expressions website and read samples of winning entries. They then began brainstorming ideas for their own stories. They recorded their ideas in a graphic organiser and many have made progress in writing their first draft.

Grade 6s attended French and math today.

Curling trip permission and waiver forms are now past due.

Remember to memorise the Guy Fakes Day poem for Monday.
