Galvani and Volta

We welcomed Ms. Ymbang to our class today. She will be in our class to support student learning for the next few months.
Grade 6s worked very hard to today.
They began the day with Art and Gym. Once in class, they practised combining sentences. They then wrote a math quiz to show their understanding of the large numbers we learned about in Friday’s math lesson.

During UOI time, students used their devices to research the work and contributions to electricity made by Luigi Galvani and Allessandro Volta. Ask your child to share what they learned about these two men with you. Students shared their findings with the class, allowing students the opportunity to improve their notes. For today’s writing activity, students wrote a journal entry describing what their day would be like if there was no electricity.

We ended the day with math. We took up Friday’s homework before continuing onto the next lesson on comparing and ordering numbers. Students practiced comparing numbers by using <, >, = symbols, using place-value charts, and ordering numbers from greatest to least or vice versa. Students used the remainder of class time to work on practice questions on p. 41 - 42 of the MMS textbook in class. Students who did not get done in class are asked to complete all questions for homework.

Look out for Scholastic orders coming home today.
