Divyansh shared a conversation he had with his aunt regarding pacemakers, which we had discussed in connection to electricity in class yesterday. His aunt explained how one model of pacemaker will alert physicians when a patient’s heart is not beating properly and the physician will contact the patient to come in for a check-up. Well done Vishva and Divyansh.
We took up yesterday’s worksheets about the forms of energy.
Students added their new learning to their KWL chart and some asked new
questions too.
Students took notes as we went and asked many, many questions which sometimes took us on long discussions. Students have some reading homework to further develop their understanding about electric current. Please visit the link: Electricity. In addition to the link, students are to tell how to say the large number below as well as the 2 biggest periods in the number:
1 Amp = 6 240 000 000 000 000 000 electrons moving past a
point in a circuit in 1 second.
Students participated in hands-on-learning as they responded
to electro challenges. Students who did not complete the questions on the
worksheet and did not add Thomas Edison to the timeline in class are to
complete this for homework today.
Right at the end of the day, we managed to squeeze in some
simile work. We reviewed the definition of a simile, read some examples of similes,
and completed and shared some partial similes. This was a fun activity as
students had an opportunity to write about each other.
Students
attended French and math classes today. In math, students reviewed yesterday’s
homework on mental math. Ms. Joseph reinforced the various strategies used in
mental math. Students were introduced to and discussed the divisibility rules. Students
completed questions to match the divisibility rules and a Venn diagram. For homework
they are to complete the worksheet pages 2 and 3.
