We
started our day attending an assembly where students were recognized for being
open-minded. Congratulations to Mahhdi for receiving the open-minded in music
award, to Aanika for receiving our class’ open-minded award, and to Sofia for
receiving the French open-minded award. We also celebrated February birthdays
this morning.
We
had three sessions of inquiry time today. In the first session, students were
challenged to complete the fourth and fifth pages of their brochures. In the
second session, they worked to complete the final page. Their work was then
self- and peer-edited before they emailed their work to me. Students who did
not complete their brochures in class are to complete them for homework. Brochures
are due tomorrow. Most students have submitted their brochures today. Some
students are choosing to print their brochures in colour at home. Please
remember to bring these to school tomorrow.
In
our final session of inquiry time, we began talking about exhibition. The goal
of the discussion was for students to understand the purpose of exhibition, its
essential features, the process of exhibition, and the roles of students,
teachers, mentors, and parents. Students are to begin thinking about local to
global issues that are current. They can talk to parents about these and they
can scan through recent newspaper headlines.
Look
out for novel study duo-tangs coming home today. Parents, please review these
with your child, sign them, and return them tomorrow.
The
OWA post-assessment task is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Students attended French class with Mme. Stella, and math class with
Ms. Joseph. Ms. Joseph returned and discussed the unit test for the previous
unit. The unit test needs to be signed by a parent by next math class. They
also reviewed the homework on relative frequency and theoretical probability. Students
are reminded to give the answer in decimals. They need to practice converting
fractions to decimals. The tentative day for the probability unit test is
Tuesday, March 3rd.
Continue fundraising for Jump Rope for Heart.
The oral competition against the Maples has been moved to Monday.
The Jump Rope for Heart event takes place tomorrow. Students are
to come to school in their Phys. Ed. uniforms on Friday.
