We
had our final session of working on speeches for the first section of our time
together today. Everyone had the opportunity to present once more. Again, they
have received written feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. We are
almost there. Put in one last effort to memorize and improve your presentations,
Grade 6s. Get a good night’s rest and remember to be in full academic dress for
our in-class oral competition tomorrow!!!!
Next,
we continued working on our How we organize ourselves inquiry unit. Today we
looked at various items, such as a baseball cap, a banana, a laptop, and
wondered where these goods came from. We learned that many countries produce and
export these products. We defined important terms
related to economic aspects of countries and regions, such us trade, import,
and export. Students then brainstormed in groups to answer the following
questions:
Why would a country import goods and services? Why would a country
export goods and services. Here are the responses the class came up with.
The class then learned about Canada’s top ten trading partners. They
began working on a mapping activity to represent these trading partners. This
mapping activity is to be completed for homework and is due on Wednesday. In
addition, students are to add the countries listed as the top ten trading
partners to our countries map.
Students attended French class with Mme. Stella and math class
with Ms. Joseph. In math students wrote the unit test
for perimeter and area. There is no math homework assigned for today.
