Our time
together began with language time. I finished up conferences with students
regarding their OWA pre-assessment task. We discussed their areas of strength
and areas that need improvement. The post-assessment will be written tomorrow,
Thursday, November 14th. Students used language time to write ‘Kindness
Messages’ for Kindness Day. We have sent these to Oakwood Academy and look
forward to seeing them displayed in the school. Students also worked on their
Polar Expressions short story.
Incomplete
science fair projects were worked on during both recesses. Students are
reminded to come to school in full uniform for both science fair days –
Thursday, November 14th and Friday, November 15th. Our
judging begins at 9 am tomorrow. Don’t be late.
We continued
learning about how airplanes move. Today’s focus was on the control surfaces of
a plane and how these produce movements called pitch, roll, and yaw. Ask your
child to explain these movements to you and to tell you which parts of a plane
are responsible for causing these movements. Students will be writing a short test on
Monday, November 18th, which will cover the four forces of flight,
the parts of a plane, and the movement of planes.
Students had
French class with Mme. Stella. They also had music and gym class today. They reviewed
their geometry math unit test during math time with Ms. Joseph. Students
should correct the questions and get the test signed by parents. They began
working on a new unit - Fractions. They discussed comparing fractions using
fraction strips and equivalent fractions. Students are expected to complete Q 1
a-d.
The lunch site is now open for December lunches. It will close Wednesday,
November 20th at 3:00pm. Special of the month: Spaghetti and Meatballs which is
available every Friday. All payments are to be made through QuickBooks by
December 6th.
After-care payments for October are now due and should be paid by November
15th, 2019.
