Language
time was used by students to continue writing their The City of Ember book report. They will have one more period of
language time to complete their report.
First recess
was used for car building.
We had more
inquiry time at the end of the day. We discussed gravity, and how it must be
overcome in order to achieve lift. We began learning about how hot air has less
mass than colder air and about buoyancy in fluids such as air, but did not
finish the lesson. We will finish this up tomorrow. Students learned that they
will be writing a test on Bernoulli’s principle on Monday, November 4th.
We will begin learning about this principle tomorrow.
Grade 6s
attended French and math class today. In math, students
continued to build objects from nets. They discussed the properties of
polyhedra including the number of faces, vertices and edges. Students will try
to complete the table for Q 5 and Q 7 as homework.
November Lunches – Do not order for November 21st as we
will be on a field trip this day.
The lunch site is now open. It will close Wednesday,
October 30th at 3:00pm.
Special of the month: Chicken Stir Fry which
is available every Friday
All payments are to be made through QuickBooks by November 6th.
Our collection of ‘Lost and Found’ items is piling up. Please make some
time to come into the school building and a look through the lost and found
items. These are now located in the GYM. On November 8th at 4pm
all left over items will be donated to the local Salvation Army.
Tomorrow is Casual Day. Students may still pay if they would like to
participate. If you would like, bring some money to buy items from tomorrow’s
bake sale.
Please send in newspapers if you have any. We need these for a Papier-mâché project we will be working on during this
unit.
Look out for permission forms and waivers for our curling trip coming home
today. These are due on Friday, November 1st.
A number of students have not completed their Polar Expression entry forms.
These are past due.
A number of parents have expressed an interest in attending the trip to the
Canadian Warplane museum. We already have enough parent volunteers, but I
understand the increased interest as it is a lovely place to visit. Parents who
would like, may attend if they are willing to pay the entry fee once we arrive
at the museum. You are still required to have a vulnerable sector check on file
in order to travel and be with students while on the trip. I believe there will
be sufficient space on the bus for parents to travel with us. Let me know if
this is something you would like to do.
Guy Fawkes Day poems are coming home today.
