We reviewed
the form of a limerick during language time. Students’ memories were in top
form as they listed the attributes of a limerick. Students then worked with a
group to compose and then share their own limerick. They received feedback on
their work.
We had novel
study time today. Students met in groups to discuss Chapter 11 of The City of Ember. There was some time
for reading in class. Students should complete the reading of Chapter 12 and
complete their response for homework. Our next discussion takes place tomorrow.
Students
attended French, music, gym, and math classes today. In math, students took up homework on equivalent ratios. They then began work on comparing ratios. Students are reminded that ratios can be compared by writing them with the second terms the same. They discussed how to use equivalent ratios to compare ratios. For
homework, students are to complete Q. 1- 5 on page 52.
The class continued
to work on their summative task for our energy unit. Today’s goal was for
everyone to complete their cue cards, rehearse their presentation at least 3
times, and get feedback from another group on how to improve their presentation.
Groups who are behind are to complete their cue cards for homework. They will
need to use tomorrow’s first recess to practice their presentation.
Presentations will take place tomorrow and on Thursday.
Students
should continue their research on Madagascar. Please have this ready to share
with the class on Tuesday. Remember to research and prepare a traditional dish
from Madagascar for International Day. Let me know when you have decided on a
dish.
Friday is a
PD Day for teachers. There is no school for students. Students are required to
wear their winter uniform on Tuesday after the long weekend.
Here are some pictures from yesterday's car building.
