We began our
day working on art, which was a change to what we usually do. This time
students worked on creating the sea or ocean scene that Vikings would have
traveled across. They worked with green and blue tempera paint, making lighter
values using white. They used broad brush strokes to create waves. They ended the
work adding foam to the sea through a splattering technique. My apologies if paint
got onto uniforms. Tempera is water-soluble and should come out in the wash.
Once back in
class we worked on speeches. Students who have presented twice to me already
practiced on their own or with a friend. I listened to all remaining students
who had only presented once to me. Students should be considering the feedback
they received and working to improve their speeches in areas where it is
needed. Some speeches are still not memorised. It is a priority that speeches
are perfected today. Our in-class competition takes place tomorrow. Students
need to be in full uniform for this. Finalists will present on Friday, from 11
am to 1 pm.
