As Mme. Villeneuve was supervising exams again today, we
were lucky to have extra class time. We began the day with an art gallery walk.
Student art work was on display throughout the classroom.
Everyone got to view
and contemplate each piece of art. Grade 6s the chose three pieces art to
reflect on. Students then began presentations. We took a break and everyone
enjoyed gym class with Mr. Slyk. We continued presentations after gym, into
first recess, and part of math time.
During math time, students worked on completing review
questions Q 7 - 12 on p. 243 of the MMS textbook. The math unit test on Measurement takes place
tomorrow.
After math was speech time. We used the same steps as
yesterday to write the first draft of reason # 3 paragraph. Students did this
in one sitting before heading out for recess. I managed to conference with everybody
about paragraph #3. We are also caught up on conferences on paragraph 2.
Students should ask for additional feedback at home. They will use the advice
they received to write a revised draft of this paragraph. We also paid
attention to how long paragraphs were to ensure we would be between the 3 – 5
minute time limits for the speech. We are currently aiming for paragraphs that
take about 50 s to read at a comfortable speaking pace. Revised draft of reason
#3 paragraph is due tomorrow. Please note that the paragraph must be completely
rewritten, not edited.
After recess we took up all the review questions. We used
the last bit of class time to check on preparations for International Day.
