A lot of
today’s class time continued to focus on the exhibition essay. Some groups are
still behind in their essay writing. It is a priority that they get caught up
on this work. Many groups have begun typing the essay. Once this is done we
will begin the editing phase.
We discussed
the oral component today. It seems that most groups will be using a slideshow
as part of their oral component. Students received a checklist for to help them
ensure the slideshow includes all required information. They also received the
rubric that will be used to assess their work. We discussed both these
assessment tools. Time was taken to answer student questions. Students who completed
their essay work for today began work on the slideshow. Students are reminded
exhibition work must be completed in class and not for homework.
I managed to
meet with most groups twice today in order check on progress and discuss next
steps.
Students had
music and French class today. During French time, Mme. Stella met with
individual groups to support them with their French component. During music
time, the class continued their discussion of their art component with Mr.
Oliver.
In math
students received their unit test. They discussed the test and students asked
questions they had about the test. Look out for tests coming home. These should
be reviewed with families, signed, and returned to school. Students began a new
unit on integers. They discussed positive and negative integers. Opposite
integers are the same distance from 0 but are on the opposite sides of 0.
Students practiced using a number line to order and compare integers. The
integers increase from left to right.
