Please see
the following letter from one of the exhibition groups in Ms. Jaskolka’s class.
Donate to people who are homeless
Hi!! Our names are Mona, Joana, and Shivam.
We are doing a project called Exhibition where we choose
a topic we are interested in and want to research more about in order to make a
positive difference in our world. We chose the topic of homelessness because we
do not want anyone to be without their basic needs. Every person has the right
to have a home and food to eat and clothing to wear.
We are collecting donations so that we can donate
them to Angela’s Place, a homeless shelter right here in Mississauga.
You can donate:
- Non
perishable food
- Clothing
(for all ages such as Pants, shirts, hats ,shoes and more)
- Toiletries
(mouthwash, feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant)
- Seasonal
clothing
- Baby
formula
- Diapers
- Baby
products
Reason why we are doing this= Our plan is to help people
who are homeless who need food and clothing and any other useful materials.
After collecting these materials, we are going to donate all these items to a
shelter called “Angela's Place” (45 Glenn Hawthorne Blvd,
Mississauga, ON L5R 4J9).
Please bring in items by Tuesday April 23, 2019 to
Ms. Jaskolka's class (Room 30)
Thank you so much for making the world a better place!
Our day
began with math. Students had an extra-long math class to make up for missing
class yesterday as so many were away at the soccer tournament. Ms. Joseph introduced
subtracting integers using tiles. To use this strategy, students begin by
modelling the first number. Then, they take away the tiles that model the
number to be subtracted. If there are not enough tiles to take away, they
add zero pairs. A zero pair does not change the value of the number. The class
then practiced questions from the textbook. For homework they are to complete
worksheet pages numbered 192-193. The tentative day for the test is Wednesday,
April 24th, 2019.
Next, our class was called to rehearse for the Wizard of Oz. A lot more practice is
needed.
Many students were feeling stressed due the pressures of
exhibition today. Once we were back in class we focused on the essay. Three
groups have submitted the good copy of their essay. Remaining groups kept
working on the essay. This is due tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th.
Students who completed the essay worked on their slideshow. They are using the
checklist to ensure the slideshow is comprehensive.
Students are
reminded exhibition work must be completed in class and not for homework.
Spring
fundraising payments for the trip can still be made.
Remember to
send in the form and money for the Wizard
of Oz costumes. These are past due.
Remember to
return immunization forms tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th.
Silent dance
forms are due back by Tuesday, April 23rd.
