Day 8
We began our
day with a Valentine’s Spirit Day assembly. Zeta won the house game by being
the quickest at wrapping up Ms. Bancud with ‘love’ tissues.
Next we had math.
We took up yesterday’s work on strategies. Students were supplied with pattern
blocks to better answer question 2 and to do this in multiple ways. Students began working on review work for the
unit test which will be written on Tuesday. Students received their review
package, grid and dot paper, and tracing paper. Students worked on completing
questions 1 – 4.
During
inquiry time we finished up watching a history documentary about the Vikings. Students learned that there is archeological
evidence in Canada (L’Anse aux Meadows) for the Viking sagas that claim the Vikings
found the American continent 500 years before Christopher Columbus. We learned
more about the homes they built and about their interactions with Canada’s aboriginal
people, possibly the Beothuk or Inuit. Students had some time to work on their
timeline project. The unit test for explorers will be written on Friday,
February 24th.
I have
received over half the PowToon projects now. I am still waiting on a number of
projects. Please send them as soon as possible as they are now past due.
We has some
speech time today. While some students presented their speeches to me, the
remainder of the class worked on memorising and reciting their speech. Everyone
should work on memorising their speech for homework. The in-class contest take
place in a week.
Students
attended music, French and gym class today.
A few
students have not yet returned their City
of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.
We will have
novel study tomorrow. Please remember your novels and Duo-Tangs.
Look out for
Grad pictured coming home today.
