Day 3
We began our
day with math. We took up yesterday’s work on transformations. We then did a
new lesson on congruency. Students learned that figures are congruent if their
corresponding sides and angles are equal and if the figures can coincide. Students
received dot and grid paper to help them complete their work. Students are
asked to complete practice questions on p. 258– 259 of the MMS textbook. Look
out for measurement tests coming home today.
Next up was
novel study time. We discussed the discussion questions for chapters 5 and 6 of
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt as a class.
Students are asked to read chapters 7 and 8 and complete response pages
28 to 33 for Thursday, Feb. 9th. We will have novel studies on each day that we
do NOT have music.
Next we
worked on speeches. I have finished checking reason # 3 paragraphs and began
working through student’s counterargument paragraphs while students worked on
writing their introduction. Students that did not complete the introduction
need to complete it for homework. These are due tomorrow.
During
inquiry time student were challenged to complete the research component of
their project on Canada’s aboriginal peoples and to write the script for their
PowToon. Students who did not get this done in class need to complete it for
homework. Students will use tomorrow’s class time to create their PowToon
slides. Devices will be needed daily as they work on this project. All PowToon
projects are due end of day Friday.
Students
attended French and gym class today.
A few
students have not yet returned their City
of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.
French trip
letters and payment are due on Friday.
Reregistration
It is hard
to believe, but the time is here already – re-registration is upon us!
Re-registrations forms have been sent home. The deadline to re-register is
February 9. After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve
your spot today for grade 7!
