Day 9
Grade 6s
began their day with French and gym class.
Once in our
room we continued working through the math review. I have checked everyone’s first
four questions. Students are asked to correct these if applicable and complete
the remaining questions for tomorrow. The unit test for Transformational
Geometry will be written on Tuesday, February 21st.
Next up was
novel study time. We discussed the questions for chapters 11 and 12 of Tuck
Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt as a class.
Students are asked to read chapters 13 and 14 and complete response
pages 39 to 42 for Tuesday, February 21st. We will have novel
studies on each day that we do NOT have music.
We spent a
lot of time on speeches today. I have only one more speech to hear tomorrow.
Students who had already presented their speeches and received their feedback
worked on memorising the speeches and making improvements based on the feedback
they received. I have promised 1000 house points to anyone who has their speech
memorised by tomorrow. Some students reported that they managed to memorise
their speech during this time today. Students should continue memorising their
speech for homework. The in-class contest takes place in less than a week.
During
inquiry time we began learning about the Age of Exploration. We heard about
interesting places like Baghdad, Constantinople, Genoa, and Venice. Students
have been introduced to the Crusades and the Ottoman Empire. Ask them to explain
what they learned in class today. Students have map work some colouring
homework to do. The unit test for explorers will be written on Friday, February
24th.
I have
received most PowToon projects now. I am still waiting for a few projects.
Please send them as soon as possible as they are now past due.
A few
students have not yet returned their City
of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.
Mr. Oliver
says that students will NOT need their band instruments tomorrow.
