Day 1
We began the
day with math. We took up yesterday’s homework and then worked on today’s
lesson which was about rounding decimals. We rounded to the nearest whole
number, the nearest tenth, and hundredth place. Students are asked to complete the practice
questions on p. 127 -128 of the MMS textbook.
WE used the
next session of class time for the poetry recitation of Remember Remember. We counted poems recited, house ties, and house
hoodies, which resulted in Kappa earning 13 000 points followed by Zeta and
Theta with 7000 house points each.
We had novel
study time next. Students discussed chapter 6 in their literature circle
groups. Everyone was assigned a new role and received class time to read
chapter 7. We will have novel study time again on Monday. Everyone should
complete their chapter 7 reading and response for homework if they did not get
done in class.
Students
attended gym and French class today.
During
language time, everyone worked on writing the final draft of their action word
poem.
Students
continued working on their Canada’s exports during UOI time. Most groups worked
on their storyboards and some began working on images of their video. Devices
are needed next week. Students need a YouTube account to upload their video
once it is done.
Look out for
after-care statements coming home with some students today.
Look out for
a holiday fundraising letter coming home from the parent guild.

A message from the MYP students:
St. Jude's Academy's upper school students are organizing a winter clothing drive for 50 Syrian Refugee families. We hope that you are able to participate by sending in your gently-used winter clothes. The students are mostly looking for jackets, coats, snow pants, mittens, and hats, but anything would be appreciated.
The age range of the children of the Syrian families are from 2 years old to 18 years old. The drive will be running until Friday, November 18, 2016. We will be collecting all items at the end of every school day, and students will be awarded house points for each article of clothing!
