Today was SJA's annual pancake eating contest. Each house
was served a huge stack of pancakes. They were challenged to finish off every
crumpet! Well done to KIP for taking first place in this contest and Theta for
taking second place. Students also participated in a house game.
In class, we got working on speeches right away. We had a
mock in-class oral competition. Each student received valuable feedback on how
to improve the recitation of their speech from their classmates and from
myself. The biggest overall area for
everyone to work on is MEMORIZATION and VOLUME. Many students do still not have
their speeches memorised. There are no more school days available to practice
as we are skiing tomorrow and the in-class competition takes place on Thursday.
Students are asked to submit a good copy of their speech on Thursday.
We managed to squeeze in some UOI time today. We finished up
discussing and recording the effects that new ideas had on exploration.
Students then heard about what Portuguese explorers accomplished during the Age
of Exploration.
Grade 6s attended French and Gym class today.
