As usual, our
day began with our explorers’ inquiry unit. Today we looked at First Nation
legends and stories. We discussed the elements and characteristics of these
stories. As a class we read the Two-Finned
Whale and discussed its characteristics and moral. Students then selected
one of two legends to read and analyse independently. Those that completed this
work began work on their new art project.
We discussed
Chapters 7 & 8 of Tuck Everlasting
during today’s novel study time. Students have been assigned the following
reading: Chapters 9 & 10. They need to complete discussion pages 32 - 36 in
the study guide. This work is due on Monday. Any incomplete novel study work
needs to be completed as homework.
Grade 6s had
French and math class today. In math students continued calculating the surface
area of rectangular prisms. They worked on practice questions out of the textbook.
They completed the worksheet as homework.
Christmas
concert costumes are to be worn on Tuesday as follows:
North Pole
team: black pants, green top/sweater, reindeer antlers
South Pole
team: black pants, red top/sweater, Santa hat
