We began our
day working on our new inquiry unit. We had an interesting discussion and heard
different perspectives on the origin of people. The Grade 6 class did a great
job doing this in a respectful way. We learned about oral histories and Canada’s
First Peoples. Students also learned another perspective on who reached the
Americas first and how they got here. These were scientific theories. Ask your
child to tell you about the Beringia Land Bridge theory.
We discussed
Chapters 3 & 4 of Tuck Everlasting
during today’s novel study time. Students have been assigned the following
reading: Chapters 5 & 6. They need to complete discussion pages 20 - 27 in
the study guide. This work is due tomorrow. Any incomplete novel study work
needs to be completed as homework.
Students who
have not done so worked on their DRAs. After that we worked on our Christmas
concert rehearsal. Our performance still looks very rough.
Grade 6s
attended French and math class today.
Remember to
use the Pick-A-Time information to book student-led conference times.
Conferences take place tomorrow. Grade 6 students are required to attend.
Forms and
payment for the SJA Parent Guild Fun Skate event are due this Friday.
