Today, students participated in literature circle
discussions of Chapter 13 using their assigned roles. I sat with Group 1 and
evaluated students based on their contributions to the group discussion. Grade
6s have been assigned Chapter 14 of The
City of Ember while they work on their reading responses. Students had lots of time to work on
their reading in class. Any remaining work needs to be completed for homework.
Novels and Duo-tangs need to be brought to school daily as we will be having
novel study time daily.
In today’s inquiry time, students were challenged to prepare
to present their slideshow. They were asked to create cue cards for their speaking
parts and to divide up the speaking parts equally between partners. Students
who completed this step then practiced their presentation three times, before
connecting their device to the classroom TV for a further rehearsal. Students
who did not complete this work used first recess time to get caught up.
Students who did complete their slideshows used class time to work on their
electric cars. Presentations will take
place on Thursday and Friday this week.
There are a couple students who still need to email me their
OPG graphs (mhaag@stjudesacademy.com)
or submit their graphs to me if printing at home. Please do this ASAP if this
applies to you.
We continued learning about limericks in language time. Today
we wrote the following limerick as a class:
Jeff lives
in a pineapple under the sea
He always
seems to lose his key
He looks
here and there
Finds it at
the fair
And manages
to save his sanity
Grade 6s attended gym, French and math class today.
