Day 5 – Science Fair

Grade 6s began their day having French class.

It was then time for us to head to the auditorium for science fair judging.

Once back in class, students reflected on how they are growing as learners and what they have learned this term. They chose work samples to add to their IB portfolios. They will be sharing these with parents at next week’s student-led conferences.

In math we continued our data management unit. Students learned how data can be presented in a misleading way. They worked to identify the impression this can give and created graphs that were accurate and misleading. They worked through practice pages on p. 114 – 116 of their MMS 7 books. Students who did not get done in class are asked to complete this work as homework. The data management unit test will probably take place on Wednesday, December 6th or Thursday, December 7th.

There is a lot happening at SJA this week. We are curling tomorrow. Students should come to school dressed in their gym uniforms. Remember to bring a warm comfortable sweater/jacket, gloves, and a hat to curl in. Students need to carry their gym shoes in a bag for curling. Report cards, writing graphs, and math graphs are going home tomorrow.

Student-Led Conferences take place next week Thursday, December 7th. Look out for a form coming home today with information about on-line booking using ‘Pick-a-Time’. Online bookings begin tomorrow.

Friday is the last day to pay for December hot lunch orders.

Our Very First Book Fair is Coming Soon – Yee-Haw!

“Saddle Up & Read” with the first Scholastic Book Fair at St. Jude’s Academy – December 7 to December 14

There will be lots of exciting books, posters, bookmarks, pens and pencils, etc. to choose from!

Proceeds will go to buying great new books for our library.

Students interested in being part of the Student Crew will be meeting tomorrow (Nov.21) at lunch.
