In today’s
math class, the Grade 6s worked on the preassessment task for the next math
unit – Geometry. We will begin this new work on Monday.
During our
inquiry time, we continued learning about static electricity. We used the
concepts we learned to explain why hair sticks up when we go down a slide, why
a balloon will stick to the wall when rubbed, and the science behind lightning
bolts and thunder. Yesterday we
discussed study methods that help us prepare for tests. Grade 6s were encouraged
to
1. read their notes
2. talk about their work (e.g. explain
it to a family member)
3. take notes
4. draw pictures/mind maps
5. ask a family to quiz them
These
strategies help our brains to remember new work. Good luck as you study
everyone.
Students
were challenged to complete their line designs on their pinwheels today. Many
stayed in during recess to complete this work. There are a few who are still
not done with this task. We will be assembling the pinwheels once everyone is
done.
We continued
researching Djibouti, the country we will be representing at International Day
on Thursday, October 5th.
Grade 6s
attended gym and music class today.
Students should
be working on their IB Learner Profile poster and be ready to present these on
their scheduled date. Jonathan will be presenting on Monday.
