Today was Valentine’s Spirit Day. Students looked very rosy
in their spirit colours. Theta hosted a house game this morning that had
representative members from each house racing to pick up candy hearts. Well
done to Zeta for taking first place, and to Theta and Kappa for taking second
and third place respectively.
Students used today math time to write their unit test on
transformational geometry.
Next up was UOI time, where students became more acquainted
with the states and physical forms of the USA. Students who did not get done in
class should visit the link below to complete this work. USA Map Activity: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/web_games.htm
Students then used the
information they received earlier in the week to compare Canada and the USA.
The last section of work has been assigned as homework. Students will be
writing a newspaper-style report on one of the following:
United States versus Canada: Who is Really More Powerful?
United States and Canada: Trade Relations Today
Our Southernly Neighbour: Friend or Foe?
Global Opinion: Has Canada Become the United States?
The report is due on Tuesday, February 16. The Canada’s
exports projects are also due on this day.
We then practiced our speeches. Students did this with a
peer. They took turns being the speaker and the audience, giving each other
feedback on what they did well and what they need to improve on.
The class attended gym class with Mr. Slyk.
Look out for Scholastic Order Forms coming home today.
Have a wonderful long weekend everyone. Keep warm.
