Today is Pancake Tuesday! Kappa, Theta, and Zeta were pitted
against each other in a contest to eat the most pancakes in the shortest amount
of time. Well done to Kappa for coming in first place. Zeta almost came in
second place, until Mr. Palumbo discovered a hidden pancake resulting in an
excited showdown between the last pancake eaters in Theta and Zeta. Well done to
Theta for taking second place, and to Zeta for almost making it.
In math class we finished working through the review work on
transformational geometry. Students will write the unit test on Thursday.
The class then had music class with Mr. Andrei and later on
they attended gym class with Mr. Slyk.
Our Canada’s exports projects have been fraught with
technical difficulties. Despite these frustrations, Grade 6s say they have
learned a lot through this process. We are hoping that this prepares them for
Exhibition, where things will hopefully run smoothly. A couple of groups got to
present their projects. The remaining groups have until Tuesday to iron out any
issues they are having.
We used the time at the end of the day to practice speeches.
We split into 2 groups in order to allow 2 students to present at the same
time. Half the class got to practice presenting their speech to their
classmates as well as receive feedback from the audience. We will do this again
on Thursday, when students who did not get to present today will have a chance
to present.
Look out for a letter about the SJA Parent Guild Fundraiser
movie night and dance coming home today.
Tomorrow is our second skiing trip to Mansfield. Students
are reminded to dress warmly, bring lunch and snacks and/or money to buy food.
Don’t forget your gloves. Tomorrow is expected to much colder than last week. I
will not be accompanying the class as I will be in an IB teacher’s workshop on
the Exhibition tomorrow. Have fun everyone. I wish I was going skiing too.
