We began our day with math. We took up yesterday’s homework
on symmetry and did a new lesson on rotational symmetry. Students used pattern
blocks to determine if they had rotational symmetry and the order of rotational
symmetry. They used tracing paper when checking order of symmetry in the
practice work. We made good progress with the practice work. Some students even
completed all work in class. Students who did not get done are asked to complete
practice problems on p. 272 - 273 of the MMS textbook as homework.
We used first recess time for students to write the
measurement unit retest.
It was then UOI time. Students got straight into their
groups and began researching and note-taking information for their
presentations on Canada’s exports. They were expected to complete another 1/3
of the research by the end of class time today. They will need devices for the
remainder of the week as they work on this project.
As students conducted their UOI research, I met with
students to conference about and edit speeches. We are now halfway through the
class with speech edits.
Students then had gym class with Mr. Slyk.
Grade 6s ended the day attending French class with Mme.
Villeneuve.
Look out for UOI tests coming home today. Please take time
to review, sign, and return these tests.
Remember to be on time for tomorrow’s ski trip. Ensure you
have warm clothes – don’t’ forget gloves or mitts. Consider bringing a change
of clothes if the slopes are very wet. Also, don’t forget lunches and snacks or
money to buy food.
