In today's math lesson, we used the short algorithm for
multiplication to solve word problems involving multiplication. Students found
this tricky work. Not only do you need to be great at multiplication facts up
to 9 x 9, but you need to work neatly and systematically, keeping digits in the
correct place. Due to the amount of time it would take to get through the
practice questions, I have reduced the number of questions that need to
complete for homework. Please see the list below.
In our inquiry time, students worked independently to
discover troubleshooting steps that electricians use to solve problems Students
used the troubleshooting steps to solve electrical problems. Students were
given an additional electricity vocabulary list to find the definitions for
from a glossary.
While all this independent work was being done, some students
were called over to the electricity station, where they learned about the
properties of series and parallel circuits. They did this by building both
types of circuits. We will continue with this work tomorrow, so that everybody
has a turn at the electricity station.
Students who completed their electricity work began working
on writing a paragraph that began with a TOPIC sentence supported by DETAIL
sentences. They were challenged with beginning and ending with strong
sentences.
Grade 6s attended French and Gym class today.
We finally made it through all the power generation
presentations. YAY!
