We started
our day with math. First we took up yesterday’s practice work on applications
of probability. A common mistake that many students made was NOT using a tree
diagram to represent the scenarios described in the practice questions. We took
a lot of time this morning to allow everyone to do this. Once the tree diagram
was created, students were able to accurately show theoretical probability as a
fraction. Showing probability as a decimal still remains problematic for many
students. They should practice their long division skills to be best prepared
for the unit test. Students then had class time to work on the probability
review package.
Ms. Joseph
was available from 1:40 – 2:20 today for students who wanted some extra support
with the review work. At the end of the day, Ms. Joseph worked with students to
take up some of the review work. She again found that some students were not
taking time to construct tree diagrams and had difficulties with long division.
Because the class did not get through taking up all the review questions, the unit
test will take place on Monday, June 10th.
Grade 6s
continued collaboratively writing the class graduation speech. Today’s goal was
to revise the drafts that were written yesterday. We will continue this work
tomorrow.
Students
attended French and music class.
Please
return all portfolios as we will be working on these later this week.
