We hope you
all enjoyed the Wizard of Oz performance
yesterday.
It was hard
to get work done yesterday, but we still managed to take up Question 9 from p.
372 of the MMS 7 textbook. Today in math, we worked on graphing patterns.
Students copied and completed tables with patterns in columns. They graphed the
patterns on grid paper and described the pattern in the graph. When describing
the patterns, students should record the pattern rule for each column in a
table, as well as describe the pattern they observe in the graph. Students have
been assigned practice questions 1 – 7 on pages 375 – 376 of the MMS 7 textbook.
This work is due tomorrow.
Yesterday,
we managed to discuss Chapter 5 of Bridge
to Terabithia. Students had class time to complete the reading and
responses related to Chapter 6. Today we took up Chapter 6. Again, students
received class time to discuss and respond to Chapter 7. Any incomplete work is
to be done for homework. This work is due tomorrow.
We had a big
chunk of time for our Digital Citizenship inquiry unit this morning. We
discussed the literal and metaphorical meaning of a ‘red flag’. Students then
watched a ‘Friend
or Fake’ video. As a class we discussed some of the ‘red flags’ that
Keyan, one of the characters in the video, was faced with. Students then heard
different scenarios of things someone they have met or ‘friended’ online may
say. Students had a paper version of a red flag which they held up whenever
they felt the scenario represented an online predator. Students then generated
their own comments and questions that online friends and fakes might say. They
wrote an email to a friend giving tips on how to watch out for online fakes.
Some students did not have their “Two Kinds of Stupid” assignment ready today. This
must be submitted tomorrow morning – even if a student is attending the soccer
tournament.
