Day 4
Due to the
talent show taking place today, we did not have time for a math lesson. We used
the little math time we had to take up yesterday’s homework on ratios. As a
result there is no math homework assigned today.
Our first
talent show was a hit. We enjoyed the performances from students of all ages.
Well done to our Grade 6 stars Sofia, Eghosa, and Sai, who did so well and made
our class proud. I am so happy with how encouraging our audience was today.
The rest of
class time was spent working on exhibition. Since the class was going to French
directly after our first session of exhibition time today, we made it a priority
that everybody work on the English version of their French script. I met with
each group to give them feedback on the work they have produced so far. Many
received advice to make their story sound more like a news story and to have
different group members play different roles, e.g., one person is the news
reporter, and another person is an expert on the issue that is being
interviewed, etc.
I have
received many essays today. There are still a couple of groups that needed to finish
up some loose ends, such as a sources cited page. Please send these as soon as
you can to mhaag@stjudesacademy.com.
During the
last session of exhibition time, students were asked to work on a component of
their choice, e.g. their French, oral, interview/trip/survey, or creative
components as needed. I met with each group as they worked to check on their
progress. Please talk to your child to learn about the plans the group has made
and possible ways you can support them.
Students are
reminded to return the squash permission forms. This trip takes place on
Monday.
We have a
lot of action taking place around the school!
Jacob and
Husmeen are collecting materials to donate to an animal shelter for their
exhibition project. They are looking for cat litter. Cat food, toys for pets,
clothing for pets, old blankets, animal bowls, or anything you think may help.
Vishva in Ms. Hung’s Grade 3 class, recently
became an Earth Ranger is holding a battery drive until Friday, April 7.
Please bring in any old batteries and we will pass them along to Vishva.
