Day 8
Sorry for not
posting a blog yesterday, everyone. I was not at school most of the day. Ms.
Bannon covered for me. Students presented their projects on our last line of
inquiry at the beginning of the day. They then received instructions for their
final project for our flight inquiry unit. We continued this work today.
Students will be using the scientific method to test paper airplanes. The goal
is to determine what changes in design produce a plane that flies the furthest.
Students stated the challenge in their own wording, composed a question that
included the dependent and independent variable, did background research on
paper air planes, recorded their research, made a hypothesis that answered
their question, identified their variables (this was the tricky one), recorded
materials and began work on their procedure. Some students even began testing
their hypothesis. Some students had difficulty with folding the paper plane
designs they have chosen. Their fine motor skills are getting lots of practice.
The class managed to accomplish a lot of work today. Well done, everyone.
Students
attended music, French, and gym class today.
We ended the
day working on our international day presentation.
