In today's math time we continued learning about number patterns.
Students identified patterns as growing, shrinking, alternating, recursive or a
combination of these. They used pattern rules to find up to the tenth term of a
pattern. Students are using their knowledge from yesterday's input/output
lessons to help with today's work. Some tricks that help are: if the number
being added to each term is doubled or tripled each time, then one machine will
probably be X 2 or X 3. Students are discovering
how important it is to work in a neat and organised fashion to prevent
mistakes, or to be able to find where you went wrong. Remaining practice
questions need to be completed at home.
In our inquiry time, students worked with their partner from
yesterday to complete a good copy of their billboard design that convinces the
public to conserve energy. Students
presented their billboards to the class. The questioning time following
presentations got quite intense at times.
Students continued working on their jot notes in class.
Grade 6s attended Drama, French, and Gym class today.
