Dear SJA Families,
We are very excited for our annual Junior
Kindergarten to Grade 2 Christmas Concert. See below for more details.
On December 10, 2019, students from Junior Kindergarten
to Grade 2 will put on two performances at the St. Jude’s Dome. Our afternoon
performance will begin at 1:00 pm, with doors opening at 12:30. Our evening
performance will begin at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15 pm. Seating is on
a first come first serve basis. Please keep in mind that outside food and
drinks are not permitted in the Dome. For our evening performance, families are welcome to take our shuttle from St. Jude’s to the Dome and back. Shuttles will begin running from 6:00-7:00 pm.
We encourage all families to come bundled up to stay warm and cozy for the entire show. The students and teachers have put a tremendous amount of work into their performances and kindly ask that all families stay and enjoy the show until the end.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
My apologies
for the lack of a blog yesterday – it was a very busy day in our room. We had
novel study discussion and then students worked on novel study until they were
called to do the oral fluency part of their DRA for this term. Once they did
this they read their chosen text and worked on their reading comprehension
responses. This took a long time. If they completed the DRA they got to work on
their Haida art. They had a shortened math lesson with Ms. Joseph. They reviewed
division of decimals. Students are reminded to estimate the answer by
rounding the numbers, then perform the division, and fix the decimal point so
that the answer is closest to the estimated value. Reminder - Mid unit quizzes
should be signed by a parent. Homework - Complete the review worksheet. Tentative
date for the unit test - Tuesday, November 10.
At the end
of the day, students worked on preparing for their student-led conferences.
Today, we
began with novel study. We took up discussion questions about Chapters 7 & 8
as a class. Students had a substantial amount of time to work on today’s
reading and homework. They were assigned to read chapters 9 & 10 and
complete pages 32 – 36 in the guide. Most completed the work in class. This is
due on Monday.
Students who
did not complete yesterday’s DRAs worked on these. Students who had completed
their DRAs worked on their Haida art project.
We enjoyed
curling at the end of the day. This was a great way to end the week and start
the weekend.
