Today’s
Whacky Wednesday Spirit Day game took place in the afternoon. It involved a
balloon race and was hosted by Theta. There was a lot of energy and cheering
for teams. Well done on your spirit, SJA, and well done to Kappa, Zeta, and
Theta taking first, second, and third place respectively.
Once in
class students learned more about NGOs, specifically about how children can
take action to make the world a better place. They read about the work of Craig
Keilburger, how he started Free the Children, and the work that has been
accomplished by this NGO.
We spent the
rest of UOI time painting our canvas landscapes. Ms. Jaskolka’s class joined us
for this activity.
We never got
to experiment with ‘green screens’ today. We plan to do this on Friday.
Students should bring a board or card game for Friday.
Students had
music, math, and French class today. In math, they
continued working on their new math unit where they related fractions, decimals
and percents. They are reminded that part of a whole can be described in 3
ways:
- as a fraction
- as a decimal
- as a percent
To write the fraction as a
percent, they are to first write the fraction with denominator of 100. They
practiced questions from the textbook - Page 294 - Q 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7. For
homework they are to complete the worksheet.
Spirit week takes place this week. Tomorrow is Sports
Team Day. We will be on our last ski/snowboard trip to Glen Eden. Students
should dress for the weather and bring a lunch and or money for food. Arrive at
6:45 am. We will be back for 3:30 dismissal time.
