Integers

Our day started with math. We used class time before recess to take up yesterday’s homework on equations. After recess we completed a lesson on integers. Students discovered that they have been working with integers already. Ask your child to explain what an integer is. Students had class time to begin working on practice problems. They are asked to complete practice problems on p. 22 of the MMS textbook for homework. Students will be writing their next math unit test on Friday, October 16.

In our language time, students were asked to reflect on the narrative paragraphs they wrote, and consider ways they could improve them. They had a peer edit the narrative paragraph they wrote. Students were then asked to write a good copy of the paragraph.

Students were very enthusiastic about UOI time. The goal for today was to complete the preconstruction sketch of the car they have chosen to build and conference with me about their plans. Students made a list of materials they will need to build their cars. Their homework is to collect all needed materials to begin building in class on Tuesday. Students received their battery holders, pulleys, motors, and wires today. Students may not build at home. Some students began building today.
Grade 6s attended French and Gym class this morning.
