We began our day with a math lesson. Many students said that
they had difficulty with yesterday's homework. We used half of today's class
time to go over yesterday's practice questions. Today's math lesson was on rates.
Students learned that rates are ratios that compare quantities measured in two
different units, e.g. km/h. Together we practiced different strategies to solve
problems involving rates, such as drawing pictures, using graphs, and creating
tables. Our goal was to complete half the practice questions today. I am happy
to report that everybody got done in class and there is not assigned math
homework for today. We will complete the rest of this lesson tomorrow. Students
will be writing a unit test on Wednesday, April 15.
In today's inquiry time, students continued working on
revising and editing their paragraphs. I met with each group to discuss their
progress. Students worked together to write the second draft of their
introduction. Group members then divided up their paragraphs and set to typing
up the paragraphs. Students who did not get this done had to stay in for recess
to get caught up. We will work on conclusions and bibliographies tomorrow. Some
students had to further research information that was missing from their
paragraphs. Typed copies of body paragraphs and introductions are due tomorrow.
Our goal is to have good copies done by Friday.
